Senior HR Business Partner

San Francisco, CA | Full-Time | Hybrid Schedule (3 Days In-Office)

The Position: We are seeking an experienced Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) to serve as a strategic advisor to leadership across our Northern California studios. This role partners closely with business leaders and employees to align people strategies with organizational goals, drive performance, and support a thriving, design-driven culture. The HRBP will play a key role in workforce planning, talent development, employee engagement, and HR program implementation while helping to shape a high-performing and inclusive workplace.

This position supports teams in San Francisco and San Jose and requires regular travel between offices. The role operates on a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in the office.

What You'll Do (Duties):

Strategic Partnership

  • Partner with leadership to translate business objectives into effective HR strategies and workforce plans.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on organizational design, team development, and talent strategy.
  • Support the rollout of job architecture, competency frameworks, and structured career pathways.
  • Guide leaders through change management and organizational growth initiatives.
Employee Relations & Engagement
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations, performance management, and team development.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture aligned with organizational values.
  • Identify engagement trends and recommend initiatives to improve retention and employee satisfaction.
  • Support leadership in building strong, high-performing teams.
Performance & Talent Management
  • Partner with leadership to implement performance management processes that encourage feedback, accountability, and growth.
  • Help identify high-potential employees and support development planning in collaboration with Learning & Development teams.
  • Monitor workforce metrics and provide insights that inform strategic talent decisions.
HR Program Implementation
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on strategic hiring initiatives and workforce planning.
  • Collaborate with Compensation & Benefits teams to ensure competitive and equitable pay practices aligned with job architecture.
  • Support implementation of HR systems, tools, and people initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness.
What You Need (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including employee relations, talent management, and performance strategy.
  • Experience supporting professional services or design-driven environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of California Employment Law and HR Compliance requirements (CA)
  • Proven ability to partner with senior leaders and influence organizational strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust across all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical mindset with experience leveraging HR data and workforce metrics to guide decision-making.
  • Experience with HR systems and Microsoft Office; familiarity with performance or learning platforms preferred.
  • HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR is a plus.
